Credit Requirements: Starting in 2016, applicants for Louisiana’s CPA Exam don’t have to meet the 150-credit hour educational requirement under Act 553. However, they must complete at least 120 credit hours, including 24 hours in accounting and 24 hours in business-related subject study. Applicants must meet the 150-credit hour requirement over the course of five years from the moment of examination to obtain a license.
Minimum degree: Baccalaureate or higher degree in any major.

Educational Requirement: Louisiana CPA license applicants must complete 150 credit hours or the equivalent in quarter hours, including 24 hours in business subjects and 24 hours in graduate or undergraduate-level accounting courses covering the following topics:
Experience Requirements: To become a CPA in Louisiana, one must obtain a 2,000-hour full-time work experience over the course of no less than 12 months under a licensed CPA’s supervision. The experience must involve the use of management advisory, tax, consulting, attest, or accounting skills.
